What is money? It is basically an exchange system whereby people can trade with each other. In earlier times, money used to be made of metals, like gold and silver, and even before that people used to exchange different goods. But nowadays money is made with paper and it is the object that makes the world go round and round. We value money as one of the most important things in our lives. Some people even commit crimes for the sake of money, and some even kill people just to get their hands on money. But, is it actually important? Do we really need money?
In a short answer, yes, we do need money. Money is such an integral part of modern day life that surviving without money has become almost impossible in this day and age. Without money, it is impossible to purchase food, let alone put a roof over our heads. But some people value money to such an extent that they give up their whole lives in the pursuit of money. The association of money with happiness is a false narrative. Money doesn’t bring happiness. It is just a means to end. We spend a great amount of time everyday just to earn money and put food on the table for our families, but while doing so, we neglect our families and the relationships that hold us together. Some people have become so disconnected from societies while running after money that they are on the verge of destroying their lives. Places where money is in short supply is ridden with crime. In a sense, money can create a prosperous society while the absence of it can destroy entire nations.
We all need money, but do we really need more money? Rich people live extravagant lives where they waste loads of money just to impress other people. In their extravagance and sheer opulence, there lies the real problem with money. A million dollars in a bank account doesn’t necessarily mean that the person will live a happy life. It is the human connection and strong family bonds that bring purpose and happiness to our lives.
We don’t need to be rich to have fulfillment in our lives. Money can help in creating a good life, but excess money will bring with more problems. The self-destructive behavior of fantasizing about money will only lead to destruction. No wonder so many people are depressed in this modern age. Even with so much development and so much prosperity in our lives, people still stress out about money. This is why we need to stop putting so much importance to money.
Once we can meet our basic human needs with money, the rest is pointless. Once we stop tying happiness with money, we can live a life with freedom and start focusing on the things that really matter.
We constantly obsess over other people and wonder how much other people earn. This is destructive and negative behavior that needs to stop. We all live unique lives and no two people are the same. Some of the successful and richest people in the world still struggle with depression and live very sad lives due to problems in their personal lives. Thus, we all need to focus more on our human connections. Having a strong family at home is the most important thing a man can ever ask for. Our obsession with money has led to unhappiness and stress in our lives. Once we unshackle ourselves from the chains of money and the financial system, we can all live a happy and prosperous life.
